    Hey i got a question, when you try to hold a weapon in real life, your hands isn't still, and its moving because of the weight and all that, how to animate this?

      That’s residual movement and it’s part of a polish pass on your animation. Definitely checkout tutorials on how polish animation and add those details.

    Great video Harvey. An Art director have got back to me saying Ai prompters just can't get the directors vision right. He said he asked a prompter over 50 times to change certain parts of a concept art for an environment. Eventually, the prompter got fed up, and they had to get a concept artist to paint it.

      Hey Opi, thanks for watching brother. And completely, I think like all new tech eventually we start seeing it's limitations and just like the Online boom in the early 2000's eventually we will realise that this is just another tool. Keep up the great work on your channel man!

    The catering to a specific studio has not gone away at all. So many, no matter how small the team, will still hold out for an animator that has what they are already doing. Variety is still not as attractive as one would think it is.

    • @harveynewman
      @harveynewman 5 годин тому

      Hey Steinmov, thanks for watching and it's true that a lot of smaller studios will be more picky with who they hire, but on the same token there's plenty of studios out there that just want someone to animate their characters and there's more demand than ever. Specially in Web 3.0

    • @ShanyGolan
      @ShanyGolan 3 дні тому

      @harveynewman true. 2024 onward is going to be really random unknown. Everything will be impacted by AI. You won't need to render games anymore, it will be auto generated in real time. No asset building, no model making, pose, skin, textures, lightning. I guess the only thing ai can't take is the human intentional errors and emotions. But heck, who knows. I guess animators should part-take in AI courses and learn prompt engineering. You can't stay behind.

      Yeah it's a wild west at the moment but it will eventually even out like the Internet back in the early 2000's it was as you say a wild west and people where incredibly scared. But as long as you keep working hard and sharpening your skills you will find a job somewhere, even if you have to learn new skills to make it happen...animation is all about learning so we are used to it when all is said and done. :)

    I think that this is a double edged sword in some cases. One of the things about a PM or Producer is that they need to be a "Swiss Army Knife" for the company. Maybe they don't need to be but from the perspective of executive management I would postulate that a Swiss army knife is better than a spoon. If an employee is designed to stir soup and you put them into a job where they are required to turn over the burgers you might have an issue. In a perfect world (from the perspective of a DEV) it would certainly help to have a producer who is aware of the difficulty of a given task by way of experience. Typically though, in the real world players don't really get to pick their coach and there is a reason for that. If I were (and I am not) an executive who made decisions regarding who to hire as a producer I would pick a candidate who was versatile over one who was specifically good at producing a single discipline. If I pick the person who was an animator to manage animation element of a project then the animators might be one of two things - upset because this producer keeps meddling in their business or happy because the producer understands their job and gives them more than enough time to complete those tasks which as a negative possible outcome can cause even more delays. You eluded in the video that as things are produced on time more and more work piles on. That is true for any industry. The sweet spot is to add appropriate caveats and buffers so that your team ends up hero's instead of zero's. What I mean by that is forecasting should always be done with the understanding that things can and will go wrong and should be accounted for not by reaction but by being proactive. If you build space into your timeline and more goes right than wrong, you get to wear the hero hat and take on additional work. The point is PM positions in any company and in any industry are less about knowing the specific technology than they are about having a GOOD philosophy for producing any "complex" product. If you only ever hire specifically talented producers to manage particular arms of projects you will end up letting all of them go every time a project is complete or trying to figure out what to do with them. If you hire versatile well rounded individuals who can learn a rudimentary understanding of those things and have an excellent understanding of diplomacy, negotiation and facilitation you will eventually end up with an individual you can throw at any problem and expect a positive result. I applaud your videos and find them valuable and insightful. This is just an alternative opinion. Thank you very much for doing these!

    • @harveynewman
      @harveynewman 3 дні тому

      Love the take and absolutely, it really depends on the studio the type of game and how much the producer gets to do in any one studio. As mentioned this things changes pretty much studio to studio. Thanks a lot for watching and for your input.

    It's possible to add 4d depth to a isometric cube, by moving the skew square side along the x axis of the right cube, individually, and leave the left cube unchanged. You can stretching the width of the x axis, for example, in the right line of a 3d stereo image, and also get depth, as shown below. L R |____| |______| TIP: To get the 3d depth, close one eye and focus on either left or right line, and then open it. This because the z axis uses x to get depth. Which means that you can get double depth to the image.... 4d depth??? :O It's even possible to create an isometric/true perspective hybrid, by leaving the north west/south east line unchanged, while adding perspective to the north east/south west line. Would be awesome, if someone make a game (even UA-cam video) that way! Nice video! :-)

      @harveynewman Місяць тому

      Hey Fritz, I think getting a good spec PC is the most important but if you play a lot of games get plenty of fast storage an SSD (hard drive) with 2TB at least should be good to get started. For animation storage as that's personal I suggest you use Google Cloud or Dropbox for storage as that allows you to keep the files in the cloud only and they don't take PC space when you're not using them. I use that setup with Dropbox and I love it. I hope this helps.

      Hi, you can find a pose tut here: ua-cam.com/video/f_aUOTT_YLQ/v-deo.html there's plenty others on YT as well. I'm not a coder so not familiar with expressions but you can find them online I'm sure.

    That's exactly my approach but as a comic book artist. I work on freelance projects for publishers and dedicate my spare time (NOT during crunch periods) to developing my own IP. I hone my skills by giving my best for my clients as I'm paid for that, then use my "leveled skills" on my creator-owned project. But... I confess... I'm making some animation here and there for my own ad campaign. And I liked it. Then I made it my hobby with full passion. Before that, I used to make some pretty awful little games as a hobby. XD

    No such thing as a finished animation... we just let it go :-) Great advice Harvey!

    Thanks for the book recommendation. I'm definitely gonna give it a read once I get the chance. I'm surely one of those night owls trying to extend my days and trying to get as many things done, as possible. 😅 But I realised recently that it really helps to switch off from work as soon as you can and enjoy your life away from the screen. Helps you keep your mind fresh and energetic for the next workday.

      Absolutely Amaresh, my recommendation is do it as soon as you can...I wish I knew about it before. : )

    I am not going through this amount of stress (been there already when I moved from Brazil to Europe with 2 teenagers😂 )...but I will definitely take a look into this book. I started to realize a while ago how much I am productive in the mornings, but always struggling to get them working properly, because you know...working late, lack of a healthy routine, but I started paying more attention to that, and setting up better flows, better food, more consistent exercise, reading time and boom!!! Better mornings were essential to everything else, like a core time for the whole day to work better...so I am always looking into "mornings way of life" as much as I can... I wish you and the family enjoy as much as possible from this moving...as much as it looks stormy now, be sure the calm times are short ahead! hang in there! 😉 Maybe you have already read it, but if you allow me a recommendation...there is a small book, small jewel, that I really loved...called Ikigai, if you had not read it, it is a nice piece of wisdom. 🙏

      Hey Juliano, thanks for the excellent comment and I hope you enjoy the book is a good one and to me at least it rang true and it sounds like you're in the same place mentally as I am so hopefully the same is true for you. And I haven't read Ikigai but I'll give it a read as I just looked it up on Amazon and it sounds amazing, thanks for the recommendation.
